Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy explains how the Dramscope app and this website collect and use your personal data. Dramscope is a product of Epicurean Digital Consultants Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16622200), 30 Durham Road, Wimbledon West, London SW20 0TW. We are the controller of your personal data under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Questions or requests: hello@epicureandigitalconsultants.com.
1. Who Dramscope is for
Dramscope is for adults of legal drinking age (18+ in the UK). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | Why we use it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Photos of bottle labels you take or upload | To identify the bottle and estimate its value. Saved to your collection only if you choose to save the bottle. If a scan doesn't match, our team may look at it, including the photo while we still hold it, to improve how Dramscope recognises bottles. | Contract (providing the service you asked for) |
| Account details: email address, sign-in ID | To create your account, save your collection and restore your subscription on a new device. | Contract |
| Your collection: bottles saved, notes, alert settings | To show your shelf's total value and send the price alerts you set up. | Contract |
| Onboarding answers (for example, "inherited" or "collecting") | To tailor tips and content in the app. | Legitimate interests (improving your experience) |
| Subscription status (not your card details) | To unlock paid features and to understand how subscriptions are used. Payments are handled by Google Play; we never see or store your card details. | Contract |
| Device and usage data: app version, device model, app and installation identifiers (not the advertising ID), approximate location (country or city) worked out from your IP address, crash reports, feature usage. We never collect your precise location. | To fix bugs, keep the app secure and understand which features help people. | Legitimate interests |
| Push notification token | To send price alerts and account messages you've turned on. | Contract; you can switch notifications off at any time |
| Messages you send us | To answer your question or handle your request. | Legitimate interests |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your photos to identify people. Please avoid including people or personal documents in label photos.
3. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Dramscope, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions:
- Hostinger — hosts this website, the Dramscope server, its database and your label photos: saved ones while they're in your collection, unsaved ones until they're deleted (within 30 days).
- Google — Google Play (app distribution and billing), Google sign-in if you choose it, and Firebase (push notifications, crash reporting and analytics).
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status across devices.
- Anthropic — reads the text on your label photo so we can identify the bottle.
- Resend — sends account emails, such as your sign-in code.
- Whisky price data — while Dramscope is in testing, prices in the app are sample data marked "TEST DATA". When we connect a price-data supplier, we will name it here before it receives anything. We will send it the identified bottle details only, never your personal data.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
4. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
5. How long we keep data
- Account and collection data: while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep records.
- Label photos you don't save: deleted after identification, within 30 days at most.
- Crash and analytics data: kept in a form that doesn't directly identify you, for up to 14 months.
- Our providers delete what they process for us on the same timetable, except where the law requires them to keep it longer or they must keep it to prevent abuse of their service.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to how we use it, or receive a copy in a portable format. To delete your account, use Settings › Account › Delete account in the app or our deletion request page. We will respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with providers that use industry-standard security. No system is completely secure. Dramscope never asks for a password: you sign in with Google or with a one-time code we email you.
8. This website
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.
9. Changes
We will update this page if our practices change and show the new date at the top. For significant changes, we will also tell you in the app.
